History of Laurentian Heights

Ken and Reta Wallace

In the mid 1950's, Ken and Reta Wallace started out with a dream of creating North Bay's most scenic residential development when they purchased property along the North Bay escarpment and launched their first development with a 29 lot subdivision along the north side of Ski Club Road. Back then, this property was described as a rock farm in the country.

In 1957, a 96 lot subdivision plan was opened at the top of the Airport hill with subsequent phases opening in the Ellendale area in the 1980's.

On February 10, 1959, Laurentian Heights Limited was incorporated and celebrates more than 60 years of creating lots in North Bay's most scenic residential area.

In 2003, under the direction and ownership of Ken and Reta's oldest sons, Bob and John Wallace opened a 13 lot subdivision along the south side of Mapleview Place.

Subsequent phases included a 29 lot development by extending Mapleview Place and Lakeview Drive, followed by a 10 lot development along Kenreta Drive that Bob and John have named in honouring their parents and creating a lasting legacy in recognition of their vision for this area.

More recently, Laurentian Heights Limited concentrated on developing lots along Surrey Drive, opening a 10 lot development in 2009, a second phase 10 lot development in 2011 and a third phase 10 lot development in 2013. In 2014, a 12 lot second phase has opened on Kenreta Drive.

John and Bob Wallace

In all phases of development, Bob and John have followed the vision established by their parents, ensuring that the lots significantly exceed the City standards in frontage and depth and that restrictive covenants are registered on title and enforced, protecting the interests of all who choose to live in this residential development.
